Welcome to the Shipham CE First School and Shipham Pre-School website! We are a small but dynamic first school at the heart of a vibrant village community on the edge of the Mendip Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We provide a stimulating learning experience for all our children, aged from 2 to 9 years old, and work closely with parents and carers to develop the 'whole child', focusing on their emotional, spiritual, moral and academic development.
We value our wonderful environment and children use our extensive outdoor space for a variety of learning experiences. There is a large playing field with an adventure playground and our 'Green Club' looks after the vegetable garden and the chickens. We have also developed a 'Peaceful Place' for reflective times.
In April 2020, we joined the Wessex Learning Trust to become part of a wider group of established local schools and we also have supportive governors, active parents and a hard-working, dedicated team of teaching and non-teaching staff. As a Church of England school, we also have close links with St Leonard’s Church and the Diocese of Bath and Wells.
