Shipham Church of England First School

Wraparound Provision

Due to the ongoing pandemic, we are starting the new academic year with a reduced wraparound care offer. There will be breakfast club every morning as usual from 8am and a new After-School Club running from 3.15pm - 5.15pm on Monday to Thursday every week. After-School clubs are a vital part of school life and offer children a variety of experiences whilst providing parents the flexibility with their own work commitments. More after-school clubs will restart at some point in the future but only when the restrictions are eased within school.

Breakfast Club

Monday - Friday (8am - 8.45am)

Cost: £3 per session

Starting Monday 14th September 2020

Breakfast Club is open to all children aged 3 and over attending Shipham Pre-School and Shipham First School. They are given a healthy breakfast and take part in a range of calm activities to prepare them for the school day. At 9am, a member of staff accompanies any Pre-School children to their classroom.

Breakfast Club will restart in September 2020 subject to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions. Please let Jo Macleod in the School Office know if you would like to reserve a place for your child - there are a maximum of 10 places available each day to ensure social distancing rules can be applied.

After-School Club

Monday - Thursday (3.15pm - 5.15pm)

Cost: £8 per session

Starting Monday 14th September 2020

There will be a new after-school club starting on Monday 14th September, led by Jill Spearing and based in the Library, Hall and, as much as possible, outside. It will run from 3.15pm - 5.15pm on Monday - Thursday (note not on Friday) and will cost £8 per session. It will give children the chance to relax and wind down after the school day; they will be able to have a snack, drink, play some board games and maybe watch a little bit of children's TV!

Please let Jo Macleod in the School Office know if you would like reserve a space for your child.

Choir

This is postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. More information to follow.
Our music teacher, Mrs Susie Spanring, comes in once a week to take small groups or individuals for piano, violin or recorder lessons. The choir meets on a Thursday lunchtime and learns songs that they then perform at Church and local events.

Multi-Sports Club

This is postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. More information to follow.
During school PE lessons the children play multisports, softball, rounders and cricket. After school there is the chance to learn football, kickboxing or tennis, as well as having a go at multisports, which introduces children to a variety of sports, improves their ball control, balance and coordination and shows them the benefits of working as a team.

Green Club

This is postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. More information to follow.
Year 4 children can join the School’s Green Club. They look after our chickens and grow fruit and vegetables in raised beds throughout the school grounds and in their polytunnel, as well as visiting local woods and farms. The Green Club sells some of its produce and plants at the Summer fete.

Drama Club

This is postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. More information to follow.
Our Drama Club runs after school every Monday and is open to all children.  It is run by Maria Hemmings from Winscombe Youth Theatre Group and the children get the opportunity to perform to parents.
